My inspiration starts from my unconscious mind. When I wake I can vividly remember my dreams for a few moments, but eventually, as I try to recall parts of them they seemed to have escaped me. I started analyzing my dreams, trying to make sense of them. Much of the time, whether it’s a dream or nightmare, they evolve from things I have seen, people I have met, memories I remember, or simple feelings that evoke
These images are glances or snapshots into those memories, thoughts, dreams, and the blank space surrounding is the mindset. What each image portrays can be up to the viewer. For myself I approach a wide range of subjects in a multi-layered way, ranging from self-reflection, to separation. Grasping the fact that in a surreal setting you are you, but not really you.
My work has the interaction of 3 components: the blank space and mindset of the dreamer, the actual dream in which they are immersed, and the vacant spaces spread throughout. I utilize the digital process to overlay and configure subjects while mixing them with textures from urban and natural environments. The empty spaces throughout the images represent the missing information, or the imperfection dreams may present. The works are an investigation of self and mind with depictions and ideas that can only be realized by the viewer.
